Ant Control

Fight Carpenter Ants with the Right Products
Carpenter ants nest in damp locations (often in water-damaged wood around homes) and then make their way into your house to find food crumbs. After using home ant control methods, many people realize that the majority of the colony has been unaffected by their pest control attempt and need a more powerful solution.  Follow these ant control tips.
  • Termidor SC is a professional-grade insecticide. It is used outside the home to spray around cracks, door frames, window frames, and anywhere else the carpenter ants may be getting in. Only use it outside because it is dangerous to human health when heavily concentrated.
  • Delta Dust is a potent product when you have located the epicenter of the ant colony. When applied correctly through a hand duster, Delta Dust meanders its way into walls killing ants in cracks. Be cautious when dusting so you do not inadvertently disturb the ant colony.
  • Advance 375 A Select Ant Bait is a better plan if you are unsure of the location of the ants' nest. This product is also good if you are trying to avoid too many harsh insecticides. Advance 375 A Select Ant Bait is also effeective against other types of ants too.
Ant Control Products for Fire Ants
Fire ants, often called killer ants or red ants, have a nasty little bite that makes them an excellent candidate for extermination. Since fire ants are outside pests, it is not surprising to see the best products are actually lawn and garden based.
  • Maxforce Fire Ant Granular Bait can be selected to be used inside or outside. This product contains a delayed mechanism allowing worker ants to carry the poison back to the nest to contaminate the queen and larvae. For optimal results, you should distribute granules every spring and fall in addition to hitting specific problem areas whenever necessary. Place small doses of granules in hard to reach locations when using indoors.
  • Although Maxforce Ant Bait Stations are a chemical granular bait, they are safe enough to utilize indoors. Individual bait traps excel because of their ease and safety when correctly used.
