Cockroaches are some of the most resilient pests out there. Do not be discouraged if they seem to be forever around. Take heed with the following cockroach control tips to protect your family and home.
Borate Powder
One of the most effective cockroach control methods is borate powder. This is a chemical treatment they can't run from. Consider it your secret poison to infiltrate their troops. There are several manufacturers, including Roach Prufe and Borid that work well. While this product works, it is not immediately effective. It can take three to seven days to see results. Once it does work, it continues to work for years. It is also used because it is very affordable. Using borate powder can be helpful, but you should be careful where you use it. Children and pets should not be exposed to it. To use, follow these tips for successful cockroach control: - Place it lightly wherever roaches are active.
- The powder sticks to their bodies. The pests then lick it, poisoning them.
- Apply it properly, using a small, narrow, spouted squeeze bottom. (Note: Applying too much just causes the roaches to avoid it.)
Roach Bait
Another effective cockroach control method is roach bait. Bait them and lure them to you! Roach control using baits can be effective especially when used alongside borate powder. This product works much like a lure for the pests. Since it contains food for the roach, they are attracted to it. The bait contains poison, which ends up killing the roach. More so, it can help to kill the other roaches. When the roach enters the bait, it eats some of the poison. The roach then retreats to its nest and dies. Other roaches will eat the body of the dead roach and will be poisoned as well.Cockroach Control Warning
If you use any of the cockroach control methods listed here, or others that you find, it is critical to follow the directions on the product carefully. These products do contain poison that can be harmful to pets and children. Roach control products often contain powders that can trigger asthma attacks in some individuals. Use properly and sparingly, and remember, more product is not always the better option. Cockroach control is an ongoing process. You must always guard against invading forces. In many situations, you will need to continuously inspect your home for further infestations. It is best to thoroughly seal the home away and remove any food sources for the pests as soon as you rid your home of them. Thanks for reading, I hope this post was informative for you DIYers.
